Can a 4 mil liner work for an indoor pond=)?

4 mil is the same as a trash bag. It will not work because it isn’t water tight. Doubling or tripling won’t work either. The water permeates one layer, then the next and so forth. And pretty soon the water is on the floor and the plastic bag is floating on top. (Guess how I know this? <G>)
If you want an indoor pond, use a plastic pot or a horse trough from the feed store or a large muck bucket depending on what size you want.

I would think it would be far easier to just have a rigid container for an indoor pond. Liners are usually for outside, so you can dig your pond to your own contours. But you’re not going to be digging a pond inside. You’d have to lay the liner IN something. So why not just make sure that something is watertight itself? (like a baby pool).
But if you have something smooth, that’s not quite water tight, and a liner could be laid in it – 4mil would probably work just fine.
